1. Attend a Girls On the Go Event
Girls on The Go is a community that’s created by young women in Liverpool to make this city a less lonely place for girls. Whether you are a university student looking to meet new people, or a local looking for a friendly community, there is something for everyone.
They host a range of exciting social and creative events like wine glass painting, friendship bracelet making, Galentine’s ball, book club and a lot more!
They have regular runs at Sefton Park every weekend, which is a great opportunity for beginners who want to start running and it is completely free of cost too!

2. The Anfield Abseil
Spring 2023 saw the start of Liverpool Football Club offering much more than just the matchday experience or a tour of the stadium.
If you’ve got a head for heights and want to see the city, and LFC from a different perspective, why not try the Anfield Abseil?
The Main Stand at Anfield is one of the largest all-seater stands in all of Europe.
With the Abseil experience, you can climb to the top of the stand, lean back over the edge at the top and then descend 100ft down the side of the stadium.
You’ll see fantastic, panoramic views of the city and the river Mersey, glide past the huge Liver bird crest, and have access to The Liverpool FC Story Museum when you land on your feet.

3. River Explorer Cruise
The Mersey Ferry is an iconic part of Liverpool culture.
One of the best ways to take a tour of Liverpool and Wirral, see the stunning skyline and find out loads of interesting information about the history of the region, is to jump on the ferry.
The 50-minute River Explorer Cruise is a great experience – just be prepared for the wind, even on a bright, sunny day!
You can learn about the city’s musical heritage, the importance of the ferries during the First World War, and other bits of Liverpool’s maritime history from the commentary that plays throughout the cruise.
You’ll even get to hear the famous song, ‘Ferry Cross the Mersey’ by Gerry and the Pacemakers, as you sail.
NUS card holders can buy a ticket for the ferry for just £10.50, so sit back and relax, taking in the sights and sounds of the river for an hour.

4. Royal Liver Building 360 Tour
The Liver Building is probably the most famous and iconic of landmarks in the city, located along the wonderful waterfront at The Pier Head.
You can see it from so many parts of the city, with the Liver Birds perched on top.
Local legend holds that the two birds face away from each other, one looking over the city, the other out to sea.
It is said that if they were to mate and fly away, Liverpool would cease to exist.
Now you too can get a bird’s eye view of the city with the incredible Royal Liver Building 360 tour, a relatively new addition to the tourist itinerary in the city.
It is an immersive tour that shares the history of the building itself.
It also offers unrivalled access to spectacular views from the 15th-floor viewing platform, which was only opened to the public last year.

5. Williamson Tunnels
A little way out of the city centre, on the edge of the Knowledge Quarter, and not something that you would expect to find, are the Williamson Tunnels.
These tunnels are a fascinating insight into the work of Joseph Williamson, who created this hidden underground world in Liverpool back in the 19th century.
You can take a guided tour through a section of the underground tunnels, and see exhibitions about the life and times of one of the most eccentric people you’ll ever hear of.
Best of all, the cost is only £4 for students, and it’s within walking distance of all our student accommodation in Liverpool.
Remember to wear something warm along with sensible footwear, as you’ll be going into the ground to explore the tunnels and caves that Joseph Williamson dug out back in the day.
The beauty of this place is that they continue to find new sections, carefully carving out safe passage.

6. Festival Gardens
Festival Gardens is an oasis of calm and beauty in the city. A former ‘tip’ it was transformed into the first Garden Festival site in the UK back in 1984.
The International Garden Festival was part of a plan to regenerate Liverpool and attract tourism at a time when it was on the decline.
3.4 million visitors came during the 5 months of the festival, but the site was left derelict until redevelopment work in 2010 reopened the site and transformed it once again into a beautiful space.
There are luscious gardens, woodland trails for nice walks and bike rides on sunny days, two restored pagodas, lakes, waterways and a walkway that joins it with Otterspool Promenade.
There’s even a walk that connects the city centre to the very south of the city along the waterfront.
It is a truly beautiful part of the city that takes you out of the hustle and bustle and back into nature.
When combined with a walk along the promenade, you can make a day out of it the next time you visit Festival Gardens.
