If you haven’t heard of the The Office US, have you been living under a rock for the past few years?

The show took the mockumentary genre and turned it into a super funny, sometimes cringe, binge worthy show.

This fun loving series depict the everyday work lives of office employees in the Scranton, Pennsylvania branch of the fictional Dunder Mifflin Paper Company.

Get ready to meet Michael Scott, the “world’s best boss”, who may appear a little ignorant and shallow at first, but is guaranteed to have your heart in the end.

With a whopping nine seasons to get through each consisting of around 20 to 25 20-minute episodes, this is, hands down, one of the best boxsets ever, so we hope you’ve got plenty of snacks!

Filled with laughs, romance, tears and relatable content, we’re rating this show a solid 10/10!

We’re fully aware we probably don’t need to explain the hit American sitcom Friends to you, but on the off chance that you’re blissfully unaware…here goes!

Firstly, if you haven’t seen friends before…YOU HAVEN’T LIVED! Okay that’s enough of the amateur dramatics, but seriously, is just the best.

Friends follows the lives of six adults living in Manhattan as they indulge in adventures, cute romances, and general mischievous behaviour.

With ten seasons and a total 236 episodes in total, we hope you’re feeling nice and comfy in lockdown, because with this awesome boxset you’re in for the long haul!

Starring Jennifer Aniston, Courtney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer, get ready to follow a journey and really connect with the main characters.

The show will make you laugh, it’ll make you cry, and it’ll also make you want to get a house in Manhattan with all your pals and have a ball.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine

Made by the same peeps that created Parks and Recreation (another great show you need to watch) is the highly addictive Brooklyn Nine-Nine!

This warm-hearted comedy cop series with main character Jake Peralta (Andy Samberg) focuses on life working at the New York Police Department.

Colleagues Charles Boyle (Joe Lo Truglio) and goodie girl Amy Santiago (Melissa Fumero) will provide plenty of giggles along the way too, with their tolerance with authority challenging Jake.

Keep your eye out for Terry Jeffords, a mega funny character in this show too, portrayed by the legend that is Terry Cruz.

With emotionally withdrawn Captain Raymond Holt (Andre Braugher) really adding to the show, it’s safe to say each character are utterly loveable in their own way. Get your hands on one of these precious boxsets… right now!

Queer Eye

YAAAAAS! If you want a binge-worthy uplifting show that’s a little camp and fun, you’ve come to the right place.

The fab five are on a mission to help guys and gals improve every element of their lives with Tan France dealing with all things fashion and Antoni Porowski in charge of food and cooking.

Karamo Brown deals with culture, Bobby Berk is the home décor expert and Jonathan Van Ness is an expert in grooming.

Together, these loveable bunch work together to change people’s lives for the better, it really is a heartwarming feel-good show you need to watch!

Recommended snack: copious amounts of chocolate.

Below Deck

Get ready for all things nautical, because once you start the Below Deck boxset, you’re not going to want to stop!

This addictive show chronicles the lives of crew members who work and live aboard a mega-yacht during charter season.

It follows the crew as they try and put aside their personal issues and remain professional, but of course, they don’t always succeed!

Below Deck is filled with all the drama, from romances to arguments, and PLENTY of sass.

With a whopping 8 seasons, this boxset will keep your student flat very occupied during lockdown, with 30-minute episodes to keep you hooked.

The yacht is captained by Lee Rosbach, who takes no nonsense and can be pretty harsh at times, which of course makes for great entertainment!

Drama Filled Boxsets

Gossip Girl

XOXO, if you haven’t watched Gossip Girl yet, you need to get on it ASAP!

The plot follows a mysterious blogger who spills the tea on every intimate detail of a group of privileged Upper East Siders’ lives.

Trust us when we say, this show gets super juicy! With Lonely Boy Dan from Brooklyn and his sister Jenny dealing with this posh group of glamorous teens, things get a little messy.

You also need to keep an eye out for main characters Blair and Serena’s seriously #extra wardrobes.

The big question is, who IS Gossip Girl? Well, you’re just going to have to watch to find out aren’t you!

Desperate Housewives

Welcome to Wisteria Lane, a street in the fictional town of Fairview filled with LOTS of drama.

Desperate Housewives follow the lives of a group of women through the eyes of their friend and neighbour who took her life by suicide in the pilot episode.

Set over 8 fabulous seasons, this boxset is perfect for a lockdown binge. The show stars Teri Hatcher, Susan Mayer, Felicity Huffman, Marcia Cross and Eva Longoria.

Strap yourselves in, because this show is a bumpy and binge-worthy ride!

Recommended snack: Sensations Thai Sweet Chilli crisps because this show is hella spicy.

Pretty Little Liars

This American teen drama developed by I. Marlene King follows the lives of four high school girls whose clique falls apart after the disappearance of their leader, Alison.

The whole show is based on working out who fictional character ‘A’ is, who primarily appears as a stalker and main antagonist.

There’s a lot of twists and turns in this show, and your idea of who A is will change pretty much every episode, that’s the fun of it!

Starring Ashley Benson, Shay Mitchell, Troian Bellisario, Lucy Hale and Sasha Pieterse, this boxset is deffo worth a lockdown binge-watch with your fellow student mates.

Big Little Lies

Set in a town by the seaside in California is Big Little Lies, a dark comedy that revolves around three women who are suddenly involved in a murder investigation.

Packed full of drama and deceit, this show is anything but simple, all we can say is…bring on season 2!

Recommended snack: popcorn (specifically salty) to highlight the salty, shady behaviour on this show.

If you’ve taken our advice and watched Gossip Girl (cheers for that) you’ll immediately notice main character Joe, who is played by actor Penn Badgley.

This story is basically about Joe being passionately obsessed with writer Guinevere Beck, with some pretty ridic storylines, this show had people hooked!

You may also recognise Peach, Beck’s best friend from Pretty Little Liars, pretty cool right?

Created by and starring Lena Dunham, Girls follows the lives of an aspiring writer and her three friends all in their early 20s trying to make sense of well…life in general!

They’re not sure what they want, who from, or what they’re doing, but they know they want to have fun! Sounds like the perfect boxset for students, right?

The best part about Girls is the fact it’s hella relatable, with humiliations, disasters, triumphs and giggles along the way.

Recommended snack: nachos, because nachos are LIFE.

New Girl

Follow the life of bubbly main character Jess (portrayed by Zooey Deschanel) who moves into an apartment with three men after she finds her boyfriend with another woman, awks!

With 7 seasons, quirky middle-school teacher Jess adds serious charm to the show, with very clear chemistry between Nick (Jake Johnson), Schmidt (Max Greenfield) and Winston (Lamorne Morris).

It’s safe to say you won’t regret binge watching New Girl, with plenty of funny moments guaranteed to put a smile on your face.

Recommended snack: ice-cream, because everybody loves ice-cream, right?

It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia

If you want something quick and hilariously funny to binge watch, you need to watch It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia!

Granted, this show may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but if you’ve got quite a dark sense of humour, you’re going to seriously love this boxset.

With short and snappy 20-minute episodes, you can find yourself flying through this show without even realising it!

A group of underachievers co-own an Irish bar in Philadelphia and are involved in plenty of controversies, often plotting against each other.

Written and starring Rob McElhenney, Charlie Day and Glenn Howerton, watch how they terrorise friend and colleague Dee (Kaitlin Olson) and Frank (Danny Devito!)

Recommended snack: chocolate cake, an addictive snack for an addictive show!

Sex Education

Starring Asa Butterfield, Sex Education follows the life of an insecure teenager and his mother (Gillian Anderson), a sex therapist!

Otis (Asa) sets up a sex advice business with Maeve (Emma Mackey) to help their fellow students with certain “encounters”.

Without giving too much away, Sex Education is the perfect lockdown show for students. It will make you laugh and really warm to the characters, while reminding you why uni is SO MUCH BETTER!

It also has a super cool aesthetic, with the music and clothes giving off a seriously 80s vibe!

Recommended snack: Sour patch kids sweets because this programme is a little fruity.

Thriller Boxsets

Lost

We’d probably have to write several blog posts to actually explain the main plot of Lost, because it can get a little confusing!

The crux of it focuses on survivors of a plane crash who find themselves stranded on a mysterious island and are forced to work together for their survival.

There’s a whole bunch of different opinions about Lost, some good, some bad, but you need to watch this show regardless!

With 6 series and 121 episodes to deal with, this boxset will definitely keep you busy during lockdown.

Recommended snack: blueberries, because you’re going to need some brain food purely for the plot!

Breaking Bad

Set in Albuquerque, Breaking Bad follows Walter White, a high school chemistry teacher who is driven by desire to provide for his family after a terminal cancer diagnosis.

He basically transforms into a total badass throughout the series, and becomes a pro in the methamphetamine drug trade.

The series follow his journey with side-kick Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul) and the troubles they face.  

One thing is certain – this boxset is a firm student favourite, and we guarantee the entire flat will love it.

Recommended snack: fried chicken (it plays a part in the plot, trust us!)

Stranger Things

If you’re a lover of science fiction, you’ll love Stranger Things!

When Joyce’s 12-year-old son Will goes missing, a series of secrets are unravelled involving secret government experiments and supernatural forces.

With three seasons and a fourth one brewing, there’s plenty of drama in the fictional town of Hawkins to keep you occupied in times of lockdown.

Everything about the show is awesome, with a cool 80s vibe and great music to match.

Recommended snack: Drumsticks and Refreshers to fit with the 80s vibe.
