Ho Ho Ho, it’s almost Christmas time, the most wonderful time of the year.

Luckily for you, Canterbury is bursting with fun festive activities to keep you busy.
Get ready because things are about to get Christmassy!
1. Visit Canterbury Christmas Market
The popular Canterbury Christmas market returns this year from November 11th until 24th December 2022, with plenty of traditional wooden cabins to mooch around.
There are various locations across the city to explore, however, the main market is located in and around Whitefriars Shopping Centre.
If you want to get some festive buys for your family and friends, or even a treat for yourself, you’ll be able to choose from homemade gifts, stocking fillers and jewellery to name a few.
You can’t take a trip to the markets without trying some of the festive food and drink on offer, can you?
Some of the stalls include Merry & Bright Christmas Bar, The Jolly Sailor, The Reindeer Bar and Bratwurst Haus.
New for 2022, is the Virtual Reality Lapland Adventure where you can get transported into a Christmas Wonderland through VR headsets.
With seating up to 6 people, this makes for a great festive activity to do with your uni mates.

2. Elf Party @ Chemistry
When it comes to experiencing Christmas in Canterbury as a student, you need to head to the Elf Party.
Taking place at Club Chemistry, the number 1 student night We Love Wednesdays, will be festive themed on December 6th.
If you’re wanting to kick off the celebrations early and make the most of candy cane and hat giveaways, then grab your flatmates and head on down.
You’ve gotta don your best festive fit – it would be rude not to.
Tickets start at just £5 with cheap drinks and booming tunes that will get everyone singing their hearts out.
We don’t know about you, but all we want for Christmas is to go to the Elf Party!

3. See The Sparkle Of Canterbury Christmas Lights
The countdown for the city’s Christmas Light Parade is fast approaching, with the city beginning to sparkle from Saturday 12th November.
What better way to spend a weekend evening that watching the festive lights illuminate with fairy lighting, beautiful lanterns and a Father Christmas giant?!
Join in with the parade taking place at 6pm from Westgate Towers to Whitefriars and take in the sights with your pals.
You can even enjoy some live music from heartstopper actor, Robbie White, in front of the Westgate Towers.
If you’re after something to do to get in the Christmas mood, we’d deffo recommend this activity!
Just make sure you wrap up warm, you don’t want to get cold.

4. Watch A Christmas Panto
Everyone gets to go to the ball in Canterbury with their Christmas Panto, Cinderella.
Taking place at The Malthouse Theatre from the 15th December until 2nd January, this is a must-see experience.
Christmas really has come early with this production.
You can enjoy the amazing sets, costumes, special effects, hilarious comedy and the stellar West End Cast.
So without further ado, grab some popcorn, snacks, and maybe even a few tipples because it’s about to get super festive.
Sort out your ticket ASAP before they all sell out, with multiple dates to choose from.

5. Mooch Around Westgate Hall Market
Pop your festive hat on, because there’s nothing better than a nice festive walk around Westgate Hal Market.
Similarly to the Christmas Markets in the city centre, this vibrant community venue hosts talented local traders including artists and producers.
Taking place on the 19th November and the 17th December, you can explore the array of produce, crafts, homewares, jewellery along with other items on offer.
There will be tons of places to eat and drink too so you can munch down on some tasty treats and hot drinks.
You might just find a cute buy for a family member or a pal for Christmas.
Or, you could pick up something good to spoil yourself, you deserve it for working so hard this term!
6. Christmas Carols At Canterbury Cathedral
As a student in Canterbury, you’re fortunate enough to have tons of things to do for the Christmas season.
You can soak up the stunning views of Canterbury Cathedral whilst singing along to some Christmas Carols by the world-famous choir.
Did you know? Canterbury Cathedral is one of the oldest and most famous Christian structures in the whole of England, now that’s pretty impressive, right?
So what better time than now to have a stroll around the grounds and admire the spectacular views!
Grab yourself a hot choccy and come on down on the 23rd or 24th of December 2022.
Seats come on a first come first serve basis so be quick if you do want to take part in this Christmas activity.
