A New Study to Determine the Most Expensive Cities for Students Has Sprung A Surprise.
According to Natwest’s student living index, Edinburgh is the priciest place to pursue your academic ambitions, with the obvious guess – London – way down in seventh place!
A total of 2,500 students were surveyed during the research in order to discover the most and least affordable places for students to study, of 25 university cities. A variety of factors were taken into account in the survey, including student accommodation prices, cost of living and average incomes for students.
But fear not – while the Scottish city is clearly a strain on the purse strings for some, it doesn’t have to be that way if you research available student accommodation before settling down for the start of university life.
Homes for Students, one of the UK’s leading providers of student accommodation, has fantastic properties in Edinburgh which are comparably cheap for the market. The rent includes all bills, free broadband and 100MB WiFi, as well as great communal study spaces and frequent social events.
Sat in the heart of the historic location, Beaverbank Place is located just north of the city centre, in the popular Canonmills area. The student flats are surrounded by a variety of amenities including bustling bars, restaurants and retail shops.
A choice of stunning studios and classic en suites are all finished to brilliant standard, with chic kitchen areas in the studio flats and communal areas, where you will find a flat screen television and relaxing sofas.
Exploring such an iconic and popular place is made simple by a bus stop on the main road outside Beaverbank Place, and for 2016/17 Homes for Students is offering a free shuttle bus which connects to the city centre and universities.
In terms of fun things to do, Edinburgh’s reputation is legendary. From cocktail bars and museums to the hilarious nights out at The Stand and Beehive Comedy Clubs – and who could forget the world-famous annual Edinburgh Fringe Festival, or the renowned Edinburgh Filmhouse?
