Oxford Business College, an independent education and training provider, specialises in higher level business management courses, providing an alternative route to a degree or professional qualification for people who have already launched their careers. The courses, of various lengths, are tailored to meet the needs of the student, boasting flexible start dates throughout the academic year.
The college was established in 1985, with a vision of offering professional qualifications and helping non-degree holders enter the job market. Back then, the Chartered Institute of Marketing’s programme (CIM) was available on a full-time basis, as a different option to a degree course. The college retained the CIM link until 2008, but has evolved from providing further education business qualifications to offering higher education equivalents, including BTEC Higher National Certificate and Diploma, and BTEC Level 7 Extended Diploma in Strategic Management and Leadership.
By 2005, the college had been given the green light by Edexcel to provide BTEC Higher Nationals, which was soon followed by Travel and Tourism Management.
Today, based in the heart of the famous city of Oxford, the college has at its disposal a team of tutors with outstanding qualifications to their name, complemented by significant experience in senior management positions, meaning students get the best of both worlds – academic and practical learning. The comparatively modest class sizes, and personalised teaching approach, have contributed to its high pass rates.
Students from the UK and overseas are enrolled with the college, which offers pathways ranging from Business English and General English courses to postgraduate-level programmes, helping learners to develop skills in HR, marketing, accountancy, law, management, and leadership.
The college’s HNC and HND Courses offer direct entry into a UK university on either the first, second or third year. Scholarship and bursary programmes are also available. Students have the choice of either remaining at the college to progress to the next level of study or, with the support of staff, applying to an array of leading universities in the UK.

The qualifications up for grabs include BTEC Higher National Certificate (Level 4) and BTEC Higher National Diploma (Level 5) in Business Management.
Most of the courses are open to students starting their studies in January, April, July or October, with most of the subjects being assessed as opposed to examined. Learners can enrol on the Business English Language Preparation (BELP) programme on any Monday. This is offered from one week to nine months, whether students want to improve their English for a short break or embark on an intensive learning curve in order to prepare for the next step in academia or the world of work.
The summer courses run from June to September, giving you the opportunity to experience a variety of events and social activities, whilst improving your business English and business skills.
The college’s Affiliation Programme sees it collaborate with institutions based in other countries. This gives the overseas partners the chance to run UK-based academic programmes, including Business English Language, Business Executive, Foundation Diplomas and Pre-MBAs. This arrangement spans as far as China and India, and provides students based abroad to study where they live, or in the UK, or alternatively at both venues.
