This prestigious city and popular destination in the south coast of England (named the unitary authority of Brighton and Hove in 1997, and then granted city status in 2000) ranks extremely well in the university league tables in England. The student union is also another loved attribute of this uni, as they exist to improve the student experience and do this by running sports clubs, supporting student societies, putting on student events, providing bars, cafes, shops, student lettings, jobs, and a lot more.

Uni of Brighton

The University of Brighton is spread across four campuses, Falmer, City and Moulsecoomb campus in Lewes Road, Brighton and Eastbourne campus. It is renowned for its strong focus on professional education, with the majority of degrees awarded leading to professional qualifications. They consistently rank in the top 100 on the University League Table and provide over 400 courses for students to choose from.

Brighton University is home to a medical school, which was set up by the government as plans to increase the number of qualified medical staff to work in the NHS.

Uni of Sussex

The University of Sussex was established back in 1961 and works as a public research company. Its student population is 20,000 and one in three of these are international students who are studying abroad. One of the things many students love about this uni is its spectacular campuses, one of them located very close to the South Downs National Park. They boast beautiful green spaces and award-winning architecture.

Serving fine French cuisine, Petit Pois is a must-visit if you’re studying in Brighton. Variety for Your Night

Pryzm is one of the biggest nightclub chains in the UK and is a favourite for many students. It has a variety of rooms for you to explore, each blasting a different genre of music. So depending on your mood, one minute you could be two-stepping to house music, or the next, belting Taylor Swift from the top of your lungs!

Boasting a buzzing atmosphere is the Walkabout. This popular nightclub is seen to be a sporty bar during the day, but a party central at night.

The Alcotraz Bar is a must-visit for an experience you won’t forget! Once you’ve become an ‘inmate’ and forced to wear the notorious orange overalls, you’ll be taken on a wild journey trying to smuggle liquor contraband into your cell block…will you be caught?

Iconic Bars

Revolution, is an iconic bar most students have heard of and been to before. It’s known to host the best fun-filled parties, where you can let loose on the dance floor and knock back a few shots! They also offer a happy hour (much to every student’s delight) which takes place post 5pm every day.

Concorde takes the top spot of Brighton’s #1 live music venue and nightclub, offering a wide variety of genres to suit everyone’s tastes! With so many events to choose from, you’re guaranteed to visit this club a good few times during your time at uni.

For the sport fanatics, you probably already know that this southern city is home to the premier league football team – Brighton & Hove Albion. Why not make plans with your friends to buy tickets and watch one of their matches? There’s nothing more fun cheering on one of your fave teams to victory!

The Fringe

Being England’s largest arts festival, Brighton Fringe is a must-visit whilst staying in your student accommodation. During the month of May, the city is flooded with creative events which are put on to showcase the unique cultural heritage Brighton offers. Some things you could experience are the breathtaking Circus Abyssinia, or the dazzling burlesque, drag and circus team at Sassy! Supersized.

Pride Festival

Brighton & Hove Pride Festival is iconic in the whole of the UK and, to be honest, around the world. Many travel here to celebrate every life and to promote equality and diversity amongst the LGBQT community. It’s a fun-filled day packed with love, light and laughter! This beautiful day is taken over by rainbows which are bound to mesmerise you!

Brighton Palace Pier

Last but certainly not least, the Brighton Palace Pier is a venue which holds so many events for you to experience. The pier itself opened back in 1899 and is home to fairground rides, bars, restaurants and deckchairs to bask in the sea view. Hosting a variety of live music events, movies and musicals, you’re bound to fall in love with this area of Brighton whilst visiting for university.
