10. Koko
503 Ecclesall Rd, Sharrow, Sheffield S11 8PR
If you’ve been eating vegan for a while, you know that vegan sushi is extremely hard to come by, or if you find some, it tends to be a bit on the bland side.
But that’s definitely not the case with Koko, which has a dedicated vegetarian and vegan sushi menu, offering choice, choice and more choice.
A few menu items that caught our eye are the Renkon Tempura starter – a refreshing combination of lotus root, asparagus, sweet potato, aubergine and broccoli.
A firm favourite is the sweet potato and pumpkin croquette served in a mild curry sauce, and, of course, the reason we are here – their fantastic selection of vegan sushi.
You absolutely should treat yourself to a desert as well – the yuzu ice cream mochi and banana tempura is an imaginative twist on some classic ingredients, a perfect example of Asian fusion cuisine.
During the lockdown you can still order Koko for delivery – every Saturday they will be preparing a limited number of ‘Koko at Home’ 50 piece sushi platters. Pre-orders up are taken up until Friday at 11pm via their booking system.
Perfect for a little boujee night with the flatmates, simply choose the number of platters you want in the ‘Party Size’ section, having in mind one person equals one 50 piece platter suitable for 2 people. Don’t forget to add a note, saying that you want vegan sushi, as they have a regular menu as well.
