Lancaster may be a relatively small city compared to most, but there’s still absolutely tons of magical memories to be had this Christmas.

1. Lancaster Christmas Market
Lancaster Christmas Market is back for this year and we’re super excited with only a few days to go until the opening date – get yourself ready!
Taking place over three days, Lancaster’s Christmas Market will be kicking off on the 25th November until the 27th at Lancaster Brewery.
Whilst there’s only a few days to make the most of this festive experience, there’s so much fun to be had that it doesn’t matter too much.
Explore some of the best traders in the North West selling handmade gifts to grab some goodies for the holidays.
When you’re done, have a cheeky mulled wine, scran some delicious street food, meet some new faces and enjoy the quality entertainment.
Don’t worry about faffing around to get there, there’s free shuttle buses from Dalton Square and Tite & Locke at Lancaster Railway Station.
The Christmas Market is open 3pm-9pm on Friday and Saturday and 12pm-6pm on Sunday.

2. Lancaster On Ice
Head to Dalton Square and you’ll find the city’s award-winning ice skating rink, Lancaster On Ice.
Put on your skates and glide along the ice with your mates at this winter wonderland.
You’ll have tons of time to take a visit with the opening taking place on the 25th November all the way up until the 8th January 2023.
Remember, the ice skating is outdoors so wrap up warm in your fave winter coat, hat and gloves – you don’t wanna spoil the fun!

3. Festive Food & Drink
After hanging up your skating boots, why not take a ride on the 35m high Ferris wheel?
You can overlook all of the city and get the adrenaline pumping, plus we’re sure the views will make for some great pictures – especially at night time!
Or, if you’d rather sit and chill after all that skating around, try some of the seasonal foods and drinks on offer at the Giant Tipi Bar.
Opening on 26th November, you can sit by the fire, toast some marshmallows, sip on a mulled wine and take in the magical atmosphere until late.
It’s a must-visit when it comes to Lancaster Christmas activities, don’t just take our word for it, give it a go.
4. Christmas Lights Switch On
Well, it’s official, the holiday season must be here if the annual Christmas Light Switch On is taking place this Sunday (27th November).
Get in the festive mood at Market Square with a programme of entertainment including live music and stage shows, before the city becomes immersed in stunning light displays at 5:10pm.
Last year’s light display looked super fun, and we’re sure this year will be no different.
Even Santa will be helping to illuminate the city centre, get yourself down there with your flatmates for the ultimate cute vibes!
5. Dick Whittington – Adult Panto
Lancaster Grand Theatre is the place to be this festive season with their special twist on the story of Dick Whittington in this adult only panto.
Sing along, have a laugh and join in on the fun with an array of dates to choose from throughout December.
We’re sure this witty pantomime is gonna be a barrel of laughs so don’t miss out, make an evening out of it with your pals, have a few drinks and maybe even go out after.
With previous years being a sell-out, this year may well be the same, buy your ticket now for just £21.
6. Wintermarkt At Kanteena
Whilst studying in Lancaster, the one place you have to visit for Christmas above all else is Kanteena – trust us!
This buzzing repurposed warehouse is hosting their Wintermarkt event from the 24th November until the 28th December with so much to do, you’ll be transported into a festive heaven.
Take a mooch around the night markets to find bespoke presents for your fam and friends.
When you’re done looking around, grab a nice Irish Coffee or a Rum Chai – it’s gotta be done, ain’t it?
There’s even a craft beer bar if you’re a pint lover!
If you’re feeling hungry you’re in luck cos’ the food here is simply too die for with tons of festive street food to choose from.
We’re talking bratwursts, Mexican loaded fries, Grilled Cheese turkey sandwiches, nacho sharing platters and loads of others.
There’s even Santa’s Grotto so you can meet Mr Claus himself, a large outdoor seating area with covers and heaters, as well as live music and DJs spinning the best tunes.
Head down to Kanteena and join in on the Christmas cheer with free entry – yay!

7. Festive Bottomless Brunch
Another way to celebrate Christmas in Lancaster is by going to the festive bottomless brunch happening at The Secret Bistro.
You’ll find this quirky bar and restaurant in the heart of the city centre on Sun Street.
You’re in luck if you love unlimited tipples, cos’ this brunch is taking place every Saturday in December all the way up until the 25th.
For just £29 per person you can knock back bottomless bevvs for 90 minutes, whilst also enjoying a tasty dish from their brunch menu.
The menu for this event is yet to be released but we’re sure it’s gonna pop off – keep your eyes peeled!

8. Lancaster Santa Dash
We couldn’t complete our list of Christmas events in Lancaster without mentioning the Santa Dash.
This annual Christmas event is taking place on the 27th November at 1:30pm and is in support of the independent charity, CancerCare.
Dress in your best Santa fit whether it’s a full on red suit or a Christmas jumper, and join in on the one-mile jog around the city centre.
We know, this activity isn’t everyone’s cup of tea but it’s just a bit of festive fun.
With all the proceeds being donated to charity, why not give it a go?
When you’ve completed the Santa Dash, celebrate by hitting the pub!
Entry costs £6 and you’ll even get a special pin badge for taking part – cute vibes.
