9 Best Clubs in London for Students

If you are living in a student accommodation in London you’ll want to know what your choices are for a big night out on the town. London is one of the biggest and best cities in the world, and as a result, you’ll find that there is something for everyone.

Whether you are looking for some cheesy pop, some of the best dance music around, grime and dubstep, or an indie and alternative night with live music, there are plenty of places to visit for a student night out in London.

Here, we’ve put together some of the best clubs for students in London:

1. Maddox Club – W1

This stylish members’ club is home to an Italian restaurant, has a minimalist feel and makes everyone who enters feel like a celebrity (and you’ll be rubbing shoulders with celebrities here too!).

The Maddox Club is known for some of the best parties around, with a vibrancy and futuristic feel that make you feel like you are partying on another planet! It has membership links with Regent’s University, ensuring that as a student in London you can feel like a VIP at the Maddox Club, with chart music, tech/deep house, R&B, and house music from local DJs and some of the finest international artists guesting as a DJ.

2. Egg London – N7

Sometimes the best club nights are those that are found in warehouse-style venues, and Egg certainly hits the spot. You’ll experience some of the finest DJs from all around the world, with the big lights and the best sound system you can think of, spread across 3 floors and 5 huge rooms of house and techno.

Every night out at Egg is one to remember, and it is incredibly easy to find between Camden Town and Kings Cross tube stations. Free student membership gives you a cheaper entry and a queue jump for three people, making it a real bonus to one of the best clubs in London.

3. Fabric – EC1

Well-known as one of the biggest clubs in the world, Fabric has regularly been voted in the Top 5 Clubs in the World by DJ Magazine. When you consider some of the big clubs in Ibiza have been found lower down the list that is some going. Fabric has a reputation that is there for good reason, but students never miss out.

In fact, there are student tickets available on the door for every Saturday night, one of the legendary nights on the circuit. Take in the famous ‘bodysonic’ dancefloor and really feel what the international DJs are spinning in the best of electronica, electro, house, and techno.

4. Notting Hill Arts Club – W1

An arts space and nightclub that is one for the purists, an underground and alternative scene where you can find incredibly niche events and club nights that are enticing to the arts crowd.

Every Friday night is the Notting Hill House Party with Brewdog beers and a wild party atmosphere, whilst Disco Freaks is for those who love their funk and soul. Expect great beer, culture, art, live music, and tasty cocktails right next to Notting Hill Gate underground.

5. Bar Rumba – W1

This is a haven for students in London, with great student-friendly drinks promotions most of the time, happy hours that seem to stretch long into the night, and some of the biggest bangers and chart-topping hits that fill the dancefloor.

Near to Leicester Square, Bar Rumba is easy to find and is one of the best nights out for students in the city, looking to stretch their cash that little bit further.

6. The Scala – N1

There’s something magical about an old cinema that has been converted into a venue, and there are few that can match this iconic London venue. For live music The Scala has truly scaled some great heights, hosting Iggy and The Stooges in its previous incarnation, and bands and artists such as The Killers, Foo Fighters, The Libertines, Rita Ora, Ed Sheeran, and a whole host of others since it was reopened in 1999.

The Scala is also home to some brilliant student-friendly club nights, including El Grande (the biggest Latin, salsa, and Afro-Latin event in the UK), and the regular rock night (Face Down).

7. The Roxy – W1

Some clubs deserve to be treated with quiet respect, and The Roxy is the quintessential, cool, basement bar and club. It feels like an exclusive venue, and provides a really chilled out night out with a few drinks.

The bar opens at 5pm, with club nights starting at 10pm, for those who have become lubricated in the bar and are looking for a dance and some more drinks promotions (happy hour is a must-visit).

8. KOKO – NW1

The original Camden Palace, KOKO is for many, the best venue in the whole of the capital. The 1,500-capacity venue has played host to some legendary gigs and events over the years. The vintage architecture of the old variety theatre in Camden makes for a stunning place to dance to live music.

Every Saturday night though, Club NME is the regular club night, with great DJs and live music from a variety of genres. It has even been recognised for its commitment to sustainability, with a 95% recycling rate (not that you’ll go there for that, but it’s impressive nonetheless).

9. Corsica Studios – SE17

For something a little bit more stripped back and intimate, Corsica Studios hosts experimental art and live music.

Some of the club nights are really out there, and has become a firm favourite on the student circuit over the last decade (it was one of the first in that time to make use of Warehouse space to create a club venue from scratch). The award-winning venue has two big rooms and a bar, with many varied events and performances giving a wide choice for a night out.
