When Is Blue Monday 2021?
Obviously, you might not be buzzing to put this one in your diary, but Blue Monday actually takes place on the 18th of January this year.
It usually falls on the third Monday in January but can also be on the second or fourth FYI!
The concept of Blue Monday was originally published in a press release under the name Cliff Arnall, who at the time was a tutor at the Centre for Lifelong Learning at Cardiff Uni.
Explained by an equation, Arnell took many factors into consideration such as weather conditions, debt levels, and low motivation levels.
Arnell now campaigns against the idea of Blue Monday via his Twitter and says it was “never his intention to make the day sound negative!”
When Was The First Blue Monday?
The first Blue Monday date was on the 24th January in 2005 as part of a Sky Travel press release.
It takes into account weather conditions and only applies to those in the Northern Hemisphere.
The idea of Blue Monday is basically something called “pseudoscience” (a collection of beliefs or practices mistakenly regarded as being based on a scientific method) – remember that and you’ll sound clever!
