Travel Advice For International Students studying in Preston

Coming to a new university is always daunting, but travelling across the world to live in a foreign country can be terrifying.

International Pickup Service From Manchester Airport To Preston

If you’re flying in to Manchester Airport, there are a number of ways you can get from Manchester to your student accommodation in Preston efficiently and quickly.

UCLAN offer a FREE international pick up service where they will pick you and your luggage up from the airport and bring you straight here to Foundry Court.

Travelling By Taxi From Preston Train Station

Travelling by Taxi is a stress free, comfortable alternative but it is always smart to book in advance. For a taxi carrying 3 passengers plus 3 suitcases, it will cost around £60.00. If you’re arriving in Preston with friends, a mini bus may be more suitable for you. For 12 passengers with 12 suitcases or 16 passengers with hand luggage, it will cost £130. That’s less than £10 each!

Travelling By Train From Manchester Airport To Preston

A 5 minute walk from arrivals at Manchester is the airport train station. For a single ticket from Manchester to Preston, it will cost just £13.00.

You will need to get on the Blackpool North or the Blackpool South train; both will bring you to Preston. If you get stuck, there is a help desk located in the entrance of the train station.

From the train station, we are located within a 10 minute walk or a £4 taxi ride. The taxi rank is located right outside the train station doors too, no need to book!

Travelling From Liverpool To Preston

If your plane is arriving in Liverpool, don’t worry, we’ve got you covered too. On arriving in to Liverpool, there is a taxi rank right outside arrivals. You may be better to book, but don’t worry if not, there will be plenty of taxis around.

For a taxi carrying 3 passengers plus 3 suitcases, it will cost around £65.00. For 12 passengers with 12 suitcases or 16 passengers with hand luggage, it will cost around £185. That works out about £12 each!

If you’d prefer to get the train from Liverpool, that’s just as easy! Catch the 500/ 86A bus from outside the arrivals terminal and ask for Liverpool Lime Street Train Station.

This will cost just £2.20. Once you arrive at Liverpool Lime Street, you will need to catch the Blackpool North train. This will bring you straight to Preston train station and will cost around £15.00!

If you arrive by train from Manchester or Liverpool airport, from the train station we are located within a 10 minute walk or a £4 taxi ride. The taxi rank is located right outside the train station doors too, no need to book

PLEASE BE AWARE OF AGENTS HANGING AROUND AT THE AIRPORT ARRIVALS. They may offer you a free ride home and try and force you to stay in their accommodation. If unsure about anyone suspicious, feel free to call UCLAN on 01772 895000.
