Special Halloween Screamings - Aberdeen Drive-in Cinema

Aberdeen is revving up for a spook-tacular Halloween! The annual celebration is stepping up a gear this year, in the form of two consecutive nights of drive-in cinema fun at Castle Fraser.

I put a spell on you

The first instalment arrives this Friday (October 27th), with the “double, double, toil and trouble” of Hocus Pocus. What better way to get in the mood for the scariest tradition in the calendar than the 1993 comedy horror fantasy, following the adventures of three witches resurrected by a teenager in Salem?

No need to worry about filling your belly beforehand – there is a catering and drink stand, and cars are invited to arrive one hour before the 8pm screening of the movie, which starred Sarah Jessica Parker, Bette Midler and Kathy Najimy. Tickets include a free non-alcoholic drink for the designated driver.

It is worth it just to see SJP in her pre-Sex and the City days, a full five years before she stole the show in the smash-hit show that made it to the big screen itself on more than one occasion!

I solemnly swear I am up to no good …

The second hell-ping of Halloween action is truly spellbinding. Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone rolls into town at the same venue on Saturday (October 28th), although this time the film gets under way at 7.30pm. Once again, cars can roll in up to 60 minutes prior to Harry starts working his magic, and there will be more catering and beverages than you can shake a wand at.

The 2001 fantasy is an adaptation of the J.K. Rowling novel of the same name, and the first instalment in what became a money-spinning film series. Prepare to be dazzled by Harry’s experiences at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Daniel Radcliffe, who plays the protagonist, turns in the performance of his young career, ensuring a place in the heart of a generation of cinema-goers.

When it comes to things to do this Halloween, Aberdeen is unquestionably the place to be.

Tickets for the drive-in cinema cost £30 per car, per film. Visit https://nts.cloudvenue.co.uk/ or call 0131 458 0200 for more information.
