Need some extra cash but the COVID-19 lockdown has ruined your plans? Sad times. Luckily for students, there are plenty of online jobs you can do from home.
It’s super easy to make a bit of extra cash in the comfort of your own student accommodation, you can even do it whilst wearing your PJ’s!
Of course, we don’t need to tell you how awesome it looks on your CV if you’re getting work experience whilst at university.
It’ll show potential employers you’re resilient, determined, and generally mature too, something all employers look out for.
We’ve done our research and gathered a list of the top 10 online jobs students can do from home to make life easier for you.

1. Freelance Writer
If you love to write, have you ever thought about becoming a freelance writer? Obvs not everyone enjoys writing content, but for those who see it as their niche, keep reading!
Freelance writing basically involves writing content for a client’s blog or website from the comfort of your own home.
It might also involve creating marketing material/social media posts, which is ideal if you want to get into a Social Media/Content Writer role in the future!
Payments are usually fixed by how many words you write and the size of the project!

We don’t need to tell you how awesome it looks on your CV too if you have freelance experience, especially when you’re studying at the same time!
How To Start Freelancing As A Student?
The key thing here is to be proactive, don’t sit around, and wait for clients to find you, put yourself out there, show them who’s boss!
Spread the word, websites like LinkedIn are great for advertising the fact you’re open to freelancing opportunities, it’s never too early to create yourself a LinkedIn profile.
Make sure you improve all your existing skills and apply for jobs that don’t require experience, you don’t want to get your confidence knocked!

If graphic design is your thing, have you ever thought about doing a bit of freelancing in your specialised subject?
As a freelance graphic designer, get ready to create logos, websites, magazines, adverts, and loads of other fun stuff for your client, sounds pretty cool right!

4. Blogging
So you want to get into blogging? Cool! Pretty much anyone can do it if they put their mind to it!
It’s pretty tough to actually make money from this online student job, and it really does take time and patience to build traffic and a following of people.
The best thing to do first is to join a casual blogging site like WordPress.com, Blogger or Medium and get writing ASAP.
If you’re super serious about blogging, you should probably think about creating your own website with some kind of “brand” and focus on one genre, whether that be beauty, fashion, gaming etc.
Next, it’s a good idea to start mixing with other bloggers and supporting other bloggers to really push your content out there, who knows, you might become viral!
5. Online Tutor
Did you know? In the UK, you don’t actually need any specific qualifications to become an online tutor.
Although, you do need to be knowledgeable in your subject area, have a fab teaching style, and be able to navigate yourself around online platforms for tutoring easily.
Tutoring looks fab on your CV and can also pay well, we’re talking £20 an hour at times!
The hours for an online job as a tutor can be super flexible which is great for students, you can pretty much pick and choose what hours you work.
Parents will often ask for a DBS check, you can apply for one of these on the government website and it’ll cost you about £23.

Yas! Many young women aspire to be influencers these days, and it’s actually pretty easy to get yourself out there.

Make sure you understand your audience and post lots of relevant content, whether that be fashion, beauty, it really depends on what your niche is.
Let brands know you’re open to collaborations and engage with your audience as much as possible!

Make sure you’re regular and consistent and keep the content as fun and as relevant to your audience as much as possible.

Unfortunately, the answer is yes! Usually, you need at least 1000 followers on social media to get somewhere.
It sounds a little crazy but you can actually get to 1000 followers really quickly if you be persistent and post engaging content regularly.
Be sure to include in your bio that you’re open to collaborations with brands, and be patient, this doesn’t happen overnight!
7. Transcription Jobs
If you’re studying a language or your bilingual, great news! You can use your skills to make money 😊
Finding an online student job as a translator is not that hard at all. There are always plenty of companies that need a hand with websites, audio files, brochures etc.
You could join a translation agency or you could look for some translation jobs of your own, there’s always a range on websites like Indeed and Reed.

In general, a freelance editor will read, edit, and fix editorial problems using their writing skills.
